QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Is there a holder for 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" and there are usually several negatives that size of the strip?

Epson does NOT make a standard holder for 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" inch film size. please know that canon and HP do NOT provide a holder for this size either.

  • Will this scan a 120 transparency film? It looks like it will, but I did not see that listed in the product description.

we can help with the 120 holder for the V600.  click HERE for the offering.  if you prefer long links, here you go!  https://www.parts-distribution.com/products/epson-perfection-v600-120-220-620-holder-film-guide

  • Do you have a slide film holder for the EpsonV 600 that will hold more than4 slides

no.  we only stock OEM parts - the only film holder we have that will work for the v600 will hold 4 slides.

the scannable area for the v600 is only about 4.5 inches wide.  check out the glass in the lid of the scanner.  that rectagular area in the top glass is the scannable area.  the scanner will not see anything outside of that area!

you will notice that the holder only positions the slide in the scannable area.  so the real question is - how do you scan more than 4 slides at a time?  I have heard of people using cardboard to craft their own holder.  we have crafted our own holders before using a black styrene.  a couple of tips if you go this direction:  1.  use your original holder as a helpful guide to finding the scannable area.  2.  use a thick enough cardboard or black styrene that allows you to bump the side of the slide to the custom holder....so the slide is straight.  3.  at the top of the holder  (when you open the lid - the top is the area closest to to the hinges) - you need about 3/4 of an inch of glass showing (at the top) of the scannable area.  fail to leave this gap and the scanner will give you an undesired result (it runs for a very long time and will only scan black).

hope that the above is helpful.

  • Does this part work with the V700? If not, do you sell any products that do? (preferably epson products)

  • I'm looking for a slide and negative holder for the Epson Perfection 1660 Photo. I don't see it listed. Will any of the ones you have in stock work?

we know the slide holder - it is discontinued.  we do not have any subs.  with some of the older epson scanners - there are nuances that are critical.  the newer trays do not always have these nuances.  sorry for the bad news.

  • will this work with Epson WF-2750

epson uses backlight technology to scan film.  the backlight comes in the top or the lid.  your printer is simply not able to properly scan film.

  • I have an Epson 7700. Will this negative device work with my printer? What settings should I use or is there special software? Thanks, Delphine

i understand that you want to scan your film.  your very nice printer has a scanner for photos and documents.  but film is a different type of scan.  epson uses backlight technology for scanning film.  yes, it also requires a different type of software.  so your printer/scanner is simply the wrong type of scanner.  do we sell scanners?  no.  however, we know a lot about them and also have hands on experience with them.  we do recommend epson film scanners.  check out your favorite marketplace for a scanner.  if you purchase one used - be sure that the power cord comes with it.  the power cords are crazy expensive.  the trays are fairly inexpensive (we sell the trays).  anyhow, scanners from least expensive to most expensive:  Epson Perfection v500, Perfection v600, Perfection v550, Perfection v700, Perfection v750, Perfection v800, Perfection v850.  let us know if you have any additional questions - we love talking scanners!

  • Will they fit the discontinued Epson Perfection 4180 Scanner. I misplaced mine in moving.

my impression is no.  the 4180 holder is discontinued - we have run through our stock.

  • Need holder for scanning Advantix slide film. Can you provide it or make a recommendation.

this is not going to be an easy one - epson, canon and hp do NOT have a standard holder for Advantix film - which is 24mm wide.  we only sell OEM parts - so no recommendations as to a holder.  If it were me, I would try using black stryenne (spelling) and try making one.  use your original holders to gauge the thickness of the stryenne - remember that the scannable area for film on the v600 is only 4.5 inches wide - you will need to be mindful of this when designing the holder.  there are some organizations that i have heard of that will make you a holder - not uncommon for spend 100 - 125 for a custom holder.

  • does the epson v600 (which is affordable) come with any film holder for 4X5 film sheets from my large format camera?

no.  the v600 does not.  epson uses backlight techology to scan film.  the scanable area for film on the v600 is only 4.5 inches wide.  epson did not include the 4x5 with the v600.  scanners that come with a 4x5 holder are the v700, v750, v800, v850, the 4990, and 4870.  stay away from the 4990 and 4870 as holders are impossible to find.  the v700 and v750 are discontinued and trays are becoming difficult to obtain - the 4x5 holder for the v700 is on the fast track to be obsolete - i suspect they will be end of life in the next 4 months.  you could try making one using black stryene (spelling) - use your slide or 120 holder to help you find the scanable area if you decide to custom make one.  there are some organizations that sell a customized holder for the v600 - and for the 4x5 - but they are crazy expensive.  hope this information helps.  if you want to chat about scanning or holders, give us a call.

  • will this fit the V550

if you click HERE, the correct offering will come right up.  if you prefer long links, here you go!  https://www.parts-distribution.com/products/epson-perfection-v550-slide-35mm-negative-or-positive?_pos=1&_sid=004cdff64&_ss=r

  • Is there an adjustable height 35mm negative holder for the Epson v600 scanner?

no.  the way that the v600 is designed, the slides actually sit on the glass of the scanner - the holder merely helps to position the slides correctly and let's the scanner know where the media is!

  • Do you have any negative holders for the "canon 900F scanner?"

900F or 9000F?  we are not aware of the 900F.  if you meant 9000F, yes, we stock all of them.  simply input 9000F into the search box.

  • Will the slide holder fit a medium format slide that is in a frame (not in negative strip)?

no.  the mounted 120s are not very fun to scan - none of the major manufacturers have film holders for this media type.  the v600 also has a very small scan area of about 4.5 inches wide.  From experience, even using a V700 or V800 for this media type....still not fun.  This is how I would do it:  I would first take a quick inventory to see how many of the 120 slides lay flat.  I would then go out and grab some black poster board and craft my own holder.  If you want some tips on crafting your own holder - give us a call - we can quickly talk you through it but typing out the response would be very lengthly and still leave you with questions.  (720) 379-8578  Best time to call is anytime after 9:30am mountain time to about 10:00 pm

  • Will the slide holder for the Perfection V600 scanner also fit the older Perfection 3490 Phot o?

no, the tabs are in the wrong place.  if you call us tomorrow at (720) 379-8578 - simply ask for michael.  we have a discontinued box with epson film guides.  happy to dig out the box and see if we have a holder for the 3490.  I can't promise that we will find one in the box - but can promise that we can look for you.

  • Will these work with the Epson V390?

No. the V390 is NOT designed to scan film. It will do a great job scanning pictures and documents but it does NOT scan slides or negatives.

  • do you have a BW kodak127 film holder to fit an Epson 1640su scanner ? thanks

127 is not a standard size/format for epson.  you will need to either purchase a custom made holder - or make one yourself using a black stryenne.

  • I am trying to find an attachment that will work with the EPSON 6100 all-in-one scanner/printer? Will this work with it?

no.  the EPSON 6100 does not have the functionality to scan negatives in a way that you can view or print them.  epson uses backlight technology for scanning film or negatives.  the epson 6100 does not have this within it.  check out the perfection v500 which a lower cost scanner that can scan film and negatives.

  • Is a separate transparency unit required on the epson v600 for negatives and slide scanning? I have a brand new V600 but the film/negative option is grayed out. Thanks

no.  be sure that the drivers are installed.  then plug into the computer.  remove the document mat from the lid.  start up epson scan utility.  you should be good to go!

  • Will the film holder for 600 be compatible for v500?

yes!  the same holder is used for the V500 and V600!  HERE is a link to return you to the offering that you inquired about.

  • Do you have a product that can scan 127 super slides with a v600 scanner?

actually, the one that you selected will work.  it has been a few years since I worked with the 127 slides - but if memory serves me right - the mounted 127s is the same size as the 35mm.  I am not talking talking about the image....but i am speaking of the cardboard size.  this is how i would complete the scans.

I would use the standard film holder (the one that you inquired about).  I would use silverfast on a stand alone basis (the disk should have been included with your scanner).  I would do the scans at 3200 dpi in jpg format.

If you are not familiar with using silverfast on a stand alone basis, use the epson provided scan utility - put it into professional mode - use the marquee to highlight the areas that you want to scan.

let us know if this does NOT make sense.  HERE is a link to return you to the offering you inquired about.

  • Will this work for an Epson 3490?

no.  we have previously researched subs and have not be successful - if you call us tomorrow around 11am mountain standard time - (720) 379-8578 - ask who ever picks up to look in the discontinued items box for the 3490 film holder.  reference EPS-SC-1009.
