Is this the correct remote with solar back?
this style remote did NOT come as a solar remote. this style does take batteries as the entire back of the of remote slides off. please know that we do sell solar remotes. if I may ask, what is your tv model number? if you would prefer to simply talk with someone, give us a call! we are happy to help!
