QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Our GE model is GFDN160EJOWW. THE AIR FILTER is not filtering lint and the lint is bypassing the filter. There is a felt liner on this filter which I think is not catching the lint.

so i am answered this a little blind.  I know the lint filter - we brought it in house - it comes without felt.  my sales and growth manager nailed down the felt - we subsequently brought that in - but there is a simply fundamental flaw.  No instructions on how to install the felt.  do you keep the felt somwhat flush like an LG filter?  or have the felt sticking up out 1/8 of an inch like electrolux filters?  how does one explain the answer to consumers - how do consumers install it correct....or do we install.  by the way, the answer is 1/8 of an inch stick up.

okay, back to your issue - the felt does not capture lint - the felts job not to catch lint - think of the felt as a means of producing a seal of some sort.  the felt helps to prevent air flow from going around the lint filter.  where air flows - lint will follow!

I think the issue is how the felt seal is installed - why don't you send us a picture - or measure how far up it is sticking up past the plastic lint filter.  remember, the felt may be batted down in some areas - which will increase the air flow around the lint filter.

please remember that the lint is going somewhere - and your dryer is effectively a heater.
