the physcial part will work - yes.  however, the reset utility will NOT work on your computer.  you will need to purchase a reset utility.  the cost $7 - $15.  when considering where to complete your purchase of the software, consider the reputation of who you are purchasing the reset from - and where.  with all the crazy stuff going on - you do not to complete a purchase and get a nasty surpise.

epson has two types of waste ink assemblies.  chipped and non-chipped.  when epson is designing a printer - they decide if the waste ink assembly will be chipped or not chipped.  when a waste ink assembly is chipped - you slide it in and the printer springs back to life!  when you have a non-chipped waste ink assembly, you have to run a reset utility.

Epson provides a FREE reset utility.  it reduces the page count by 30% - 40%.    click HERE for the FREE Waste Ink Reset Utility.  This utility must be run on a windows based PC - the printer should be turned on - the printer must be connected to the computer using a USB cable.  WIFI connections error out.   You can purchase a third party program that will assist you in resetting your printer.

finally, the offering you purchased - this waste ink assembly is NOT chipped.  suggestion - run the reset utility first - most people get hung up on the technology side of the process.

Did you post a video about this yet? I would like to replace this on my father's xp830 printer. He has an Apple computer. Can I bring my laptop and use windows to reset the counter? I don't think I will be able to add my laptop to the printer because it seems frozen until the replacement/reset is competed.

our impression is that there are videos on youtube on how to replace.  on the reset - here is the windows based RESET LINK; the computer will need to be phyiscally connected to the printer using a USB.  if you need to use the apple pc - epson has NOT updated the link to include apple; you would need to purchase a reset link that runs between 7.50 to $15 each.  we don't sell reset links - if we were going to buy one - we would hit ebay.  mm
