Is this compatible with Epson Perfection 2400 photo?
no. this is not compatible - we are not aware of any subs for the perfection 2400.

To scan 35mm color transparency slides, what is the required orientation and configuration? Using guesswork, I can only get thumbnail images from using the slide tray.
if you are only getting thumbnails, your dpi is off. when i used to scan, i used a v700 and would scan at 3200 dpi. by your description, it sounds like your DPI is too low. if you are using the epson scan utility software, put it into professional mode, select the film holder setting, update the dpi - click preview at the bottom - another screen on the right will appear - at the top of the screen on the right, there are two tabs - thumbnail and general (?) - use the general tab - use the marquee to outline the slide scan area - confirm settings - click slide. I know, it seems like a lot....it is. be careful fo the automatic mode as it has a tendancy to truncate or skip dark slides.

will this work on a epson v37 scanner?
no, the v37 is not able to scan film.

the V39E does not scan film!
