there are a couple of modifications that would need to be done to the holder. we are happy to do these modifications for you. simply complete your purchase - and send us a note asking us to complete the modifications for the 4990. also, when you use this holder - the placement of the holder is key. it would need to go on the lower glass - far right and bottom part of the glass.

I've heard that this holder is superior to the standard V700 holder I use on my scanner. But, will it fit?
the v700 holder for the original 4x5 - tough to find. i have a few v700s - i have used both holders. i found that the v800/v850 holder was very hard to close - attracted dust - and less efficient as it only holds one piece of media - but it did do a good job on the scan - yes, this will work on the v700.

I would like a 4x5 holder for my Epson V600. Would the one for the V850 work? Thanks in advance!
no. this holder will hold the 4x5 media outside of the scanable area of your scanner. epson did not product a 4x5 holder for your scanner as the scanable area is only 4.5 inches wide.

Is it possible to use this 4x5 holder with an Epson Perfection 4180 scanner? I don't mind moving the holder to make 2 scans that cover the entire film. Or, do you have another product that will work with the 4180's film scanner lid. Thanks.
thank you for thinking of us. regarding the Epson Perfection 4180 Scanner - the scanable area (the area in which the scanner can see the media) - is in the lid of the scanner and very narrow. when epson first came out with the 4180, they did not design it with the 4x5 media in mind. this is why finding trays for the 4180 specifically for the 4x5 is difficult to find.
however, with the above being said, it does not necessarily mean that you can't use the scanner for 4x5s. If you were to call Epson, they would advise you to place the media on the glass and scan away.
can you make a tray using a black styrene or cardboard?
it has been a few years since we have had these trays in stock - but I seem to recall the bottom of the trays having a reflective white markings that were necessary to guide the 4180. such white markings were not used in subsequent scanners - but I think the 4180 did. -
Could this work with a Canon 4400 scanner?
no. canon scanners use film holders that have special clips that lock the holder into place. these holders do NOT have such special clips.
