New Versus Used

When shopping for parts - One must consider, do I buy new or used?  

Provided that a new part is available, there are some things that we would never suggest buying used; for example, an intake fan for a projector.  Why would we not suggest buying used?  Imagine taking apart the projector - or paying someone to do so - having the part installed - and have the part fail after a very short time.  For a few bucks more, you can buy new - and have peace of mind.  When there are moving parts or electricity involved, we suggest buying new.

When considering buy new or used parts, consider the moving pieces on the part, whether there is electricity involved, how difficult the part is to install if the used part should break, the cost difference between used and new - and most importantly, who are you buying the part from!!
